Jan Hendrick Lourens

Jan serves as a Behaviour Interventionist with previous experience as a youth support worker with youth in group home settings.  He has BA degree in Psychology with a concentration in Human Services. He loves learning more about psychology and wishes to pursue a Master’s degree in counselling psychology in the future. He proudly boasts his South Africa as his home but thoroughly loves his work in BC

Jan is particularly interested in understanding the short and long-term biological and psychological impacts of early childhood abuse in various settings and contexts, across different cultures. As a young boy moving from South Africa to Canada, throughout his life, studies and work experience, he has observed the complex issue of domestic violence and how drastically it can impact the future lives of children who are abused at a young age. Throughout his career, he hopes to help young victims of domestic abuse and childhood trauma navigate their lives and the challenges they face both practically and therapeutically. I believe that we are all capable of growth and that we grow stronger and better when we grow together and build connections with others. Healthy relationships are the best form of therapy.
